Dissolving Tendencies to Overindulge as an Escape or Distraction
If this resonates, you probably have noticed a pattern of wanting to escape responsibilities and/or healing. Methods of escape may include short-term gratification through other people, substances, or other habits you may wish to kick out of your life for good. ***Please, seek professional help if needed to assist you with processing emotions that may arise from seeking healing.*** However, I am here to offer guidance (based on my experiences) on working with your own energy and suggest a couple of crystals that may uplift you on your path.
Affirmations:
“I am open to Divine guidance.”
“I have control over my life decisions.”
“My mind, body and spirit are so powerful.”
Crystals for Your Journey:
Amethyst
Literal meaning (from the Greek word, amethystos) is “not intoxicated”
The purple hue of Amethyst is very regal. It holds wisdom beyond our times and offers gentle guidance on how to tap into that universal wisdom. Amethyst can be tailored to your needs by programming it.
Healing Properties of Amethyst
Mental Clarity
Connection with the Divine
Chakra: Crown and Throat
Amethyst aids with clearing the mind of chatter and instead, replacing it with stillness and tranquility. This can be especially helpful for meditating. When leaving the habit of always diving into a distraction, mental clarity can seem so abstract, but believe it is possible and you will begin to witness miracles in your life. Our minds are extremely powerful. What we give attention to in our minds manifests into our reality.
Exercise your Mind and your Will
The Law of Polarity says this is possible in one of two ways; either you give attention to the ideas and beliefs behind your actions used to escape, or you give your attention to ideas and beliefs behind what you do to heal.
For example, let’s say the toxic habit I am looking to dissolve from my life is eating five chocolate bars per day. I noticed a pattern of eating chocolate when I am highly stressed, particularly when it comes time to pay my monthly bills. The ideas and beliefs behind eating five chocolate bars per day to cope with the stress of bills consist of a total disregard for my health and self-discipline. It may seem like a far reach to link chocolate consumption with broad ideas like that, but every action we take is linked to a belief or idea which often motivates many more actions we take in our life. If I subconsciously have that belief of disregard for my health, I will be more likely to make decisions that correlate with that same belief.
If we keep fueling that subconscious belief with actions we are taking to constantly distract our mind, the belief only gets stronger and more ingrained. It is a viscous cycle. But, what I was getting at before by bringing up the Law of Polarity was that it doesn’t have to be viscous. It can be a beautiful cycle if we replace a few key components of the avoiding bills simulation.
Let’s say, we begin to realize the chocolate habit is spiking blood sugar levels. The doctor says we should really cut back if we don’t want to be prediabetic. Switching the chocolate out for a healthy alternative, (let’s say raspberries instead) correlates to the belief, “My health is important.” It is important to believe in the reason we are making the change. “My health is important” must resonate with your soul for the switch from chocolate to a handful of raspberries to take place.
"Although I am not getting the same rush I used to get with the excess of chocolate, that is okay because my health is important. My life is important. I deserve to eat good food that nourishes my body. It is important for me to be physically well enough to enjoy the activities I love and to spend time with my loved ones." All these beliefs that come with the switch of the action can happen simultaneously, before, or after making that switch. The important thing is linking the two together for a lifestyle change. With the actions and beliefs both switching to correlate with being healthy instead of self-destructive, more aspects of life will begin to fall into the umbrella of “health is wealth” instead of the mindset of “my health is not important” and even more than that, “I have autonomy over my life decisions.” You would have successfully rid yourself of that belief that did not belong to you because you were only avoiding the reality of monthly bills and planning a budget.
Now, by discarding the old belief system you can focus on reprogramming your mind for more healthy decisions. We clear away energies in order to make room for upgraded programming.
Integrating a monthly budget into your routine would be the next step to the equation. Now, this hypothetical situation was 'cookie cutter' for the purposes of explaining the bare bones of the process of making a change. This process understandably takes perseverance. Some may need professional help whether it be a counselor, life coach, a licensed therapist throughout the whole process and thereafter.
Work with Amethyst to help Bring Clarity and Guidance
To charge your crystal with intention, hold it and send the intention through your energy in your body into the crystal in your hand. The affirmations above can also be utilized for this process. Try saying the affirmations aloud in the mirror while you hold your crystal in your hand.
Amethyst can also be placed in an area where you will see it often in your home so that it can emit the supportive energy. It can be worn as a pendant, bracelet, or other piece of jewelry so that it is always working closely with you on the intention that you set. There are also amethyst tumbles or palm stones which are easy to take on the go in a bag or pocket.
Patience and self-love are also some companions worth getting familiar with. These should be welcomed and kept close life-long.
